ICT has a huge impact on today’s world, approximately 1.18 billion users of the internet according to CIA World factbook (2005) it will definitely be more than that by now. I will be updating my blog over the next few months about the impact ICT has on today’s world.

Email has been developing along with the development of ICT. The top three webmail providers are Hotmail with 369+ million active users. Yahoo! Mail, with 275+ million active users. Gmail, with 193+ million users. This is over 837 million users on just three servers.

The majority of businesses now use ICT, this is because of many reasons consisting of the ease and the ability to back data up. Some businesses now make the employees have a smartphone that they can access email on whenever they want also wherever they are.

Another impact that ICT has on today’s world is the use of social networking sites such as facebook, twitter and myspace. As you can see below the growth of a social network site called facebook has quadrupled in 3 years, this is due to the fact we have access to the internet everywhere in this day and age.

The education system has adapted to ICT use very well, back in the day it used to be good old pen and paper now most schools have their own VLE server with most of the text books hosted on it. Revision system now heavily use ICT as their base, it is great because there are lots of different sites for all sorts of subjects.
