IT in the news

There are a lot of articles in the media that are talking about IT. I Did a quick search on the BBC News and the biggest one that happened recently was the blackberry down time.

It has been dubbed as the ‘Blackberry Crumble’ the service fault started to occur on Monday 10th October.  According to Research in Motion (Blackberry Manufacturer) it was a server fault that affected Blackberry handsets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. It stopped users from being able to use and access simple services such as email, web browsing and the popular blackberry messenger.  The outage lasted for approximately three days; the company faced mayhem and decided to compensate the customers by enabling to have free classic apps such as Bejeweled and the Sims, along with others. Blackberry claims the applications are worth more than £63, which is free for four weeks.

Another recent event has been the London riots, which was a huge event overall.  Lots of people used social media sites such as Facebook and twitter to plan riots and boat about what they have looted etc.  Recently a Warrington 22 year old male was charged with inciting public disorder because he made a Facebook riot page that was used to plan riots and meet up.  The police have been working closely with the community to track down these criminals.
